Two killed in Dolakha motorcycle accident



DOLAKHA: Two youths, including the President of the Nepali Students’ Union (NSU) at Gaurishankar Multiple Campus, died in a motorcycle accident in Bhimeshwor Municipality-6, Dolakha, last night. One other person sustained injuries in the accident.

According to the District Police Office, Dolakha, the accident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. when two motorcycles—bearing registration numbers Ba 53 Pa 8899 and Ba Pra 02-034 Pa 3242—collided at Ramitedanda along the Lamosanghu-Jiri road section.

Sirish Basnet, 24, president of the NSU unit at Gaurishankar Multiple Campus, and Shyam Bahadur Khatri, 26, alias Sujan, of Mirge, Baiteshwor Rural Municipality-3, died during treatment at Chhorolpa Hospital, Charikot.

Basnet was riding the motorcycle that also carried Khatri when it collided with another motorcycle. The other rider, a 25-year-old man from Baiteshwor-5, sustained minor injuries and is currently in police custody.

District Police Inspector Shriram Timalsina said an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
