NEB publishes SEE results
The results of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) have been published following a meeting of the National Examination Board (NEB) held earlier today. According to the NEB, 61.81 percent of students who appeared in the examination have been graded. As per the official data, 48,866 students secured a Grade Point Average (GPA) between 3.60 and 4.00. Likewise, 89,185 students obtained a GPA between 2.80 and 3.60. Another 48,479 students scored a GPA between 2.40 and 2.80, while 28,479 received a GPA between 2.00 and 2.40. Additionally, 2,369 students scored below a 2.00 GPA.
Deuba downplays rift with UML, calls disagreements ‘natural’
Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that disagreements between the ruling Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML are natural. Speaking to media persons at Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan on Friday, Deuba stated that since the Nepali Congress and UML are different parties, occasional disagreements are to be expected. “Since Nepali Congress and UML are different parties, there are sometimes disagreements — that’s natural. It’s normal, isn’t it?” he remarked. Deuba added that despite differences on certain issues, the government is functioning based on mutual understanding. He also noted that it is normal for parties to have varying interpretations of the government’s decisions.
Constitutional provisions make party majority difficult: Deuba
Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has remarked that it will be difficult for any single party to secure a majority due to the election-related provisions in the constitution. Speaking at a memorial event organized by Nepali Congress Chitwan on the occasion of the seventh death anniversary of democracy fighter Gauri Devi Pradhan, Deuba stated that the inclusive and proportional provisions in the current constitution make it unlikely for any one party to achieve a majority. He emphasized his sole focus on strengthening the Nepali Congress, saying, “I became the president of this party and have served as Prime Minister multiple times because of it. My only objective is to strengthen the party across the country.”
Simkot will be connected to national road network in some days, PM says
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that the district headquarters of Humla will be connected to the national road network in some days. In a Facebook post today, PM Oli shared that Simkot will be linked to the national road network in some days adding that the long wait for 26 years for road network is being fulfilled soon. Similarly, PM Oli has argued that Humla is not a remote district now, thanks to the road connectivity there.
Koshi Province Assembly passes Appropriation Bill
The Koshi Province Assembly has passed the Appropriation and Expenditure Bill for the Fiscal Year 2025/26 with majority support. The bill, officially titled “Bill on Appropriation and Spending from the Koshi Province Consolidated Fund for Services and Works for Fiscal Year 2082 BS,” was unanimously endorsed by the Assembly. It was designed to implement the province’s economic proposal for the upcoming fiscal year. Both the economic proposal and the appropriation bill were presented by Finance and Planning Minister Ram Bahadur Magar and were passed following a decision by Speaker Ambar Bahadur Bista.
Foreign Minister Rana leaves for Italy
Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana left for Rome, the capital of Italy, to attend the 44th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Conference, scheduled from June 28 to July 4. According to her secretariat, Minister Rana will address the main session of the conference, along with other high-level events held during the gathering. The Nepali delegation, led by Minister Rana, includes Nepal’s Ambassador to Austria, the Permanent Representative to the FAO, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
RSP calls parliamentary meeting to discuss visit scam
The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has called a meeting of its parliamentary party for Saturday, at 9 AM, according to party spokesperson and lawmaker Manish Jha. The meeting will focus on the latest developments related to the visit visa scandal, which has recently sparked significant political controversy. RSP has been staging protests in parliament, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, alleging his involvement in the scandal.
Deuba defends Home Minister over visa row
Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has defended Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, stating that allegations linking him to the visit visa controversy are false. Speaking to journalists at Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan on Thursday, Deuba said there was a deliberate attempt to target the home minister without basis. He also reaffirmed that the party’s general convention will be held on schedule, brushing aside speculation about delays.
Unified Socialist holds secretariat meeting following Madhav Nepal’s release on bail
The Unified Socialist Party held its Secretariat meeting on Friday, just two days after party chair and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was released on bail in a high-profile corruption case. The meeting took place at the party’s central office in Aloknagar, Kathmandu, and was chaired by Nepal himself, who continues to lead both the party and its parliamentary wing despite facing legal proceedings. Senior leaders including Jhala Nath Khanal and Rajendra Pandey were also present. Nepal was released on Wednesday after posting a bail of Rs 3.5 million. He is one of several individuals charged in connection with alleged financial irregularities over government decisions granting land ceiling exemptions to the Patanjali Yogpeeth.
Gold traders resume street protests over luxury tax on gold
Gold and silver traders have once again taken to the streets, demanding the government roll back what they call an “unjust and impractical” luxury tax imposed on jewelry in the new budget. The Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers and Artisans Struggle Committee resumed protests in Kathmandu’s New Road area on Friday, claiming that the recently announced 2% luxury tax on gold ornaments has pushed the industry into deeper crisis. Although the committee had temporarily halted its street demonstrations, it has now revived them, citing the government’s lack of seriousness in addressing their demands.
When will KMC’s budget drop?
As local governments across Nepal begin rolling out their budgets for the new fiscal year 2025/26, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)—the nation’s largest and most resourceful municipality—has failed to present its own, raising serious concerns over administrative paralysis and political deadlock. The primary reason: Mayor Balen Shah’s ongoing refusal to sit in the same room as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Saroj Ghimire, whom he has accused of corruption. Despite internal appeals and repeated requests from elected municipal officials, the budget deadline of June 24 passed without a meeting of the executive body or the municipal assembly. This has left a critical question hanging over the capital city: When will the Kathmandu Metropolitan City budget be announced?
Gandaki Province Assembly passes budget for fiscal year 2025/26
The Gandaki Province Assembly has passed the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2025/26 by a majority vote. The budget was approved on Friday following deliberations on allocations under various headings. Ministers and Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey had earlier responded to questions raised by Provincial Assembly members during discussions. Addressing the assembly, Chief Minister Pandey said the budget was allocated based on priority areas. He explained that Kaski and Gorkha districts received larger allocations — Kaski being the provincial capital and a major tourism hub, and Gorkha requiring funds for the completion of ongoing projects.

Preparations have been completed for Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official visit to Spain, beginning tomorrow. PM Oli is set to make the visit at the friendly invitation of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez for the International Conference on Financing for Development of the United Nations (FFD-4), to be held in Seville, Spain, from June 30 to July 3. Daunne road blocked again
Traffic along the Daunne section of the Mahendra Highway has been halted once again due to the rising water level in the Binayi River, following heavy rainfall on Thursday. Police announced that vehicle movement was suspended from 7 p.m. Thursday, citing increased flood risk. Authorities stated that traffic will resume only after assessing the weather and road conditions.
Preparations complete for PM Oli’s visit to Spain
Preparations for Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli’s visit to Spain, where he will lead the Nepali delegation to the United Nations’ Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD-4), have been completed. Prime Minister Oli is visiting Spain at the invitation of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to attend the conference in Seville. Gold price falls by Rs 2,900
The price of gold in Nepal declined significantly on Friday, with a drop of Rs 2,900 per tola, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association. Gold is now being traded at Rs 189,400 per tola, down from Rs 192,300 per tola on Thursday. The price of silver has also dipped slightly. It is now being sold at Rs 2,165 per tola, compared to Rs 2,175 the previous day.
Government urges immediate clearance of dairy farmers’ dues
The government has directed concerned authorities to clear approximately Rs 3 billion in outstanding payments owed to dairy farmers by the end of the current fiscal year. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development held a meeting today with the Nepal Dairy Association, the umbrella organization representing private dairy industries, and issued a directive for immediate payment of the dues. Dairy farmers across the country have been struggling financially after long delays in receiving payments for milk supplied to privately-run dairy companies.
Rampur Cooperative hands over revolving fund to local school
Rampur Savings and Loan Cooperative Society has established a revolving fund at Janabikas Secondary School in Rajaghara, Rampur Municipality-3, as part of its commitment to community development. Teachers left in empty classrooms as students disappear
Two schools in Beni Municipality—Jagannath Basic School in Upper Gajne (Ward No. 5) and Okhale Basic School (Ward No. 10) in Myagdi district—were officially closed from the academic session 2023 due to a complete lack of students. At Bhanu Secondary School in Ratnechaur, Beni Municipality-1, enrollment has been steadily declining. Established in 1958, the school had 102 students in the academic year 2023, dropping to 72 in 2024. As of the current academic session, 2025, the total number of students has further decreased to just 48—from kindergarten to grade 12. According to Principal Dinesh Bogati, classes 1 and 3 have no students at all.
Youth brutally murdered in Saptari
A young man has been found brutally murdered in Pripahi, Rajgadh Rural Municipality-4, Saptari. According to the District Police Office, the body of 32-year-old Rajkumar Khang, a resident of Dakneshwari Municipality-8, was discovered on Thursday. Locals alerted the police after spotting the body at the scene. Acting Police Chief DSP Jitendra Kumar Basnet said a police team was immediately dispatched to the location upon receiving the report.
Human-elephant conflict in Jhapa: 72 people and 25 elephants killed in 15 years
Over the past 15 years, human-elephant conflict in Jhapa district has claimed the lives of 72 people, including seven foreign nationals since 2067 BS. During the same period, 92 people have been injured in elephant attacks, according to Dr. Suman Bhal of the Division Forest Office, Jhapa. In the current fiscal year alone (from Shrawan 2081 BS), five people have died and six others have been injured. On average, five people die annually due to elephant encounters in the district.

On-site payment camp held in Annapurna
Annapurna Rural Municipality of Myagdi has begun providing payments for development projects directly to consumer committees by reaching individual wards. The municipality launched a mobile camp to deliver payment-related services to those consumer committees that are unable to travel to the rural municipality office in Pokharebagar. A team led by Vice-Chairperson Diva Tilija Pun, along with Chief Administrative Officer Ram Prasad Sharma Kandel and Accounts Officer Navin Poudel, provided on-site payment services in Ward No. 1, Dowa.
Farmers in Gorkha earn Rs 111 million from litchi sales
Farmers in Gorkha have earned Rs 111.5 million from litchi sales this year, marking an increase of nearly Rs 11.5 million compared to last year, according to Prakash Bastakoti, Chief of the Agriculture Knowledge Center, Gorkha. “Last year, litchi worth Rs 100 million was sold,” Bastakoti said, “but this year, the figure has exceeded Rs 110 million.” He attributed the rise in production and earnings to favorable weather conditions and improved orchard management.
NC leader calls for action against exploitation of Japan-bound trainee workers
Nepali Congress central member Ajay Babu Shiwakoti has strongly condemned what he called a “serious syndicate” exploiting Nepali youths aspiring to work in Japan under trainee worker schemes. In a statement issued Friday morning via social media, Shiwakoti called for urgent action against those responsible, warning that the system is riddled with abuse and illegality. He criticized the process where, even after trainees are issued Japanese visas, they are still required to take additional language tests, calling it both unlawful and inhumane.
Teenage pregnancy on the rise in Shuklaphanta Municipality
The number of teenage mothers under the age of 20 is increasing in Shuklaphanta Municipality, raising concerns over the physical and mental health of girls marrying before reaching adulthood. According to the municipality’s health department, out of the 302 women who gave birth at local birthing centers in the current fiscal year, 30 were under the age of 20—up from 28 last year. These teenage mothers were between 16 and 19 years old. Paramananda Bhatta, head of the municipality’s health department, said teenage pregnancies pose serious health risks to both mother and child, as adolescent bodies are not fully mature for childbirth.
Gulmi’s ‘Thorgeli Gund” becomes a brand
“Thorgeli Gund’ (jaggery) produced in Thorga located in Rural Municipality-3 of Ruru area of Gulmi has now been established as a ‘brand’. In this area, which has been cultivating sugarcane for 150 years, ‘Thorgeli Gund’ (jaggery) has succeeded in making a separate identity in the market after the establishment of a sugarcane processing center with the initiative of the rural municipality and the support of various organizations. The sugarcane processing center, operated by the Ruru Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited, started regular production from February this year.
Community forest funds driving training for underprivileged youth
The Sunpal Community Forest Users Group in Gauriganga Municipality-7, Kailali, has provided free 45-day driving training to 22 underprivileged youths. The training program, conducted as part of the group’s annual plan, aimed to promote employment and support livelihoods. According to group chairperson Ram Bahadur Kami, the initiative aligns with the Forest Act, 2076 BS, which mandates allocating a portion of community forest income for programs benefiting underprivileged groups and broader community development, in addition to forest conservation.
NC purchases property worth Rs 130 million in Sanepa
The Nepali Congress (NC) has acquired additional land and a building in Sanepa, Lalitpur, to expand and better organize its central office premises. Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel said that an agreement has been signed to buy 19 annas of land—equivalent to one ropani, three annas, and three paisa—along with a three-story house located directly across from the current party headquarters. The purchase agreement was finalized with General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa, Bishwaprakash Sharma, and Treasurer Umesh Shrestha representing the party.
Technology-friendly manpower necessary for employment: Minister Bhandari
Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari, has emphasized the need to develop skilled manpower capable of utilizing technology to enhance employment opportunities. Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony between the Local Development Training Institute, the Foreign Employment Board, and Helvetas Nepal, held at the Ministry today, Minister Bhandari stressed the importance of equipping manpower with the knowledge, skills, and technological competence required in today’s evolving global environment.
