Three killed, four injured in Makawanpur road accident



KATHMANDU: Three people lost their lives and four others were injured in a road accident that occurred in Thaha Municipality-3, Makawanpur, along the Makawanpur-Tribhuvan Highway.

The incident took place last evening when a passenger bus (Ba 3 Kha 5990), en route from Bajravarahi Gopali village to Thana Bazaar, went out of control due to brake failure and struck seven pedestrians near the Nepal Electricity Authority office.

According to the District Police Office, the deceased have been identified as Krishna Balami (around 40), Lokendra Kumar Thakur (38), and Raghunandan Yadav of Siraha Aurahi Rural Municipality-1. The identities of two of the victims remain unconfirmed.

One of the seriously injured individuals is receiving treatment at the Trauma Center in Kathmandu, while the remaining injured are being treated at the Palung Primary Health Center.

Police have taken the bus driver, Rajesh Karki (29) of Thaha-5 Basanta, into custody and initiated an investigation into the incident.
