Police deploy water cannons on agitating teachers attempting to break through restricted area

KATHMANDU: Police used force against protesting teachers after they attempted to break through a prohibited area near the Federal Parliament building in New Baneswor.

As in previous days, teachers gathered from various locations and marched toward the Parliament.

In response, police deployed water cannons to push them back. A scuffle ensued between the teachers and the police, during which some protesters were seen throwing stones at security personnel.

Today marks the 26th day of the teachers’ protest, with demonstrators demanding that the Education Act be amended to meet their core demands.
