BHAKTAPUR: Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has emphasized that the current government, formed through collaboration between the two major parties, provides a strong foundation for both development and political stability, helping to move beyond the country’s history of political infighting.

While inaugurating the newly-constructed administrative building in Katunje, Suryabinayak Municipality, Bhaktapur, PM Oli stated that development had been hindered under the monarchy, where the focus was solely on maintaining power.

In contrast, he noted that the pace of development has improved since the advent of democracy.

“Development in Nepal has now gained momentum. It’s not true that development happens automatically. There is no development without a strong system in place,” he stated.

Development, he said, can only happen when the right government, capable of driving progress, is in power.

“The country is facing challenges, but the government, in cooperation with the two major parties, is steering development forward,” PM Oli said.

Addressing critics of the government, PM Oli remarked that those opposed to the administration often resort to empty hopes and fantasies about the government’s downfall.

“The Nepali Congress (NC) and the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) have committed to providing stability to the country. You can be sure of it,” he asserted.

The Prime Minister also clarified that the NC fully supports him as per their previous agreement and that the UML would offer full cooperation to the upcoming NC-led government.

He noted that the winter session of Parliament would focus on significant law-making work, and assured that the constitution would be amended soon if an agreement was reached; however, it would take longer if no consensus could be formed.

Speaking humorously about his health, PM Oli said, “I have a cold and the antibiotics have made me feel a bit weak, but whenever people see me sneezing, photos of me sitting in the ICU start circulating. If I cough even slightly, the social media erupts with pictures of me in the ICU.”

He addressed the misinformation surrounding his health and the attempts to spread false narratives.

The Prime Minister also urged people to disregard illusions propagated by those who claim that opposition to the government is strengthening a limited group of individuals.

He expressed confidence that the new administrative building would serve the people effectively and support upcoming development plans.

Additionally, PM Oli called for unity in the country, emphasizing the end of an era where elections were won through fear and coercion. “We must now move forward unitedly, through democratic practices,” he said.
