OHIO: The global auditions for the second season of the Nepali singing and dancing reality shows Mero Voice Universe and Mero Dance Universe have kicked off in Columbus, Ohio.
These shows, renowned for offering the highest prize money among Nepali reality programs, aim to unite and celebrate Nepali talent worldwide.
The auditions, held on January 25 and 26, marked the beginning of a journey that spans 14 cities across 12 countries on five continents.
The event was inaugurated by Dilli Adhikari, President of the Intra National Welfare and Support Foundation, amidst a vibrant ceremony showcasing Nepali singing and dancing talents from the US and Canada.
The competition boasts grand prizes: winners of both shows will receive Rs 10 million each, while the runner-ups and third-place contestants will take home Rs 2.5 million and Rs 1 million, respectively.
During the event, Adhikari highlighted the importance of preserving Nepali culture no matter where one resides. He stated that these shows are a way to pass on Nepal’s rich cultural heritage to future generations through music and dance, strengthen unity among the global Nepali community, and foster connections with their homeland.
Following the US auditions, the next rounds will take place in London and Portugal on February 15 and 16, Tokyo on February 15, Hong Kong on February 16, Sydney on February 23, and Bangkok and Dubai on February 22 and 23. Auditions will continue in Doha on February 21, Mumbai on March 1 and 2, and Siliguri on March 8 and 9.
Selected participants from each location will travel to Nepal for the final rounds, with all expenses covered by the Foundation. Both shows will be broadcast on Nepal Television.
Over 60 participants from the US and Canada showcased their talents in Ohio, with 6 singers and 5 dancers advancing to the next stage.
The singing judges included senior musician Sushil Bishwakarma and singers Keshab Poudel, Arjun Rasaili, and Muskan Balampaki Magar.
For dancing, the panel featured actors Dilip Rayamajhi, Shankar BC, Rupesh Upreti, and Parvati Rai.
Additionally, students from the Intra Dance School Columbus captivated the audience with their performances. Omraj Gurung, a Pennsylvania resident, was appointed as the head of the Foundation’s Culture Department during the program.
Mero Voice Universe and Mero Dance Universe promise to bring Nepali talents into the spotlight, celebrating culture and creativity on a global stage.
