Govt forms strong foundation for development and political stability: PM
Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has emphasized that the current government, formed through collaboration between the two major parties, provides a strong foundation for both development and political stability, helping to move beyond the country’s history of political infighting.
While inaugurating the newly-constructed administrative building in Katunje, Suryabinayak Municipality, Bhaktapur, PM Oli stated that development had been hindered under the monarchy, where the focus was solely on maintaining power.

Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to address Parliament on the first day of the winter session, set to begin on January 31.
The Prime Minister has prepared for his address following the announcement of the winter session starting on January 31. In his speech, PM Oli is scheduled to inform the public about the government’s recent work and initiatives.
Lamichhane challenges Kaski District Court’s bail order in Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case
Rabi Lamichhane, the chair of Rastriya Swatantra Party, has approached the High Court challenging the Kaski District Court’s decision to grant him a bail of Rs 6.5 million in the ongoing Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case in Pokhara.
Lamichhane, who was granted bail on January 9 by a bench led by Judge Nitij Rai in a case involving a claim of approximately Rs 280 million, expressed dissatisfaction with the bail amount.
Two teenage girls found dead in Achham
Two teenage girls, Saraswati Khadka (15) and Ishara Khadka (14), were found dead in the Sunghar Community Forest of Dhakari Rural Municipality-1, Achham, on Saturday evening.
Both had been missing since Friday, and their deaths are being treated as suspicious. The two girls had gone to check on the goats but did not return.
Their bodies were discovered with severe head injuries, raising suspicions of foul play. Family members have claimed they were murdered, and police have launched an investigation.
Finance Committee expresses concern over slow development in Lumbini
Members of the Finance Committee from the House of Representatives expressed concern over the slow progress of Lumbini’s development during their visit to the historic site on Sunday.
Led by Committee Chair Santosh Chalise, the team visited key landmarks, including the Mayadevi Temple, the Pushkarani Pond, the Ashoka Pillar, and several monasteries. The group raised concerns about the delayed completion of the Lumbini Master Plan.
Tiger attack injures woman in chhaugoth in Kailali
A woman was injured in a tiger attack in Kuine, Mohanyal Rural Municipality-7, Kailali.
The incident happened around 10:30 pm on Sunday when Saraswati BK, 40, was sleeping in a chhaugoth (menstrual hut outside a house). The tiger attacked BK, injuring her head and face. The tiger ran away after villagers raised an alarm.
Govt to establish welfare fund for mountain guides
The government is set to introduce a welfare fund aimed at providing social security and promoting the mountaineering profession, announced Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey.
Minister Pandey emphasized the need to support mountain guides and their contributions to Nepal’s tourism sector when speaking at a felicitation program on Sunday.
