Tiger attack injures woman in chhaugoth in Kailali

KATHMANDU: A woman was injured in a tiger attack in Kuine, Mohanyal Rural Municipality-7, Kailali.

The incident happened around 10:30 pm on Sunday when Saraswati BK, 40, was sleeping in a chhaugoth (menstrual hut outside a house).

The tiger attacked BK, injuring her head and face. The tiger ran away after villagers raised an alarm.

BK was taken to Lamkichuha for treatment, and her condition is said to be stable and out of danger.

The practice of staying in huts during menstruation is still common in some areas of Kailali.

Even though wards and municipalities have been declared hut-free, many people still follow this tradition.
