SC orders govt to justify recall of 11 ambassadors

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the government to submit written reasons for its decision to recall Nepali ambassadors from 11 countries.

The order follows a writ petition filed at the court challenging the legality of the government’s move to recall the ambassadors appointed during the tenure of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

After a preliminary hearing, a single bench of Justice Binod Sharma issued a show cause order asking the government to clarify the basis for its decision.

The government had instructed the ambassadors serving in China, Germany, Malaysia, Israel, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan to return to Nepal.
