Maoist Centre Central Committee debates Prachanda’s report and proposal

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Centre) has entered the second day of its seventh Central Committee meeting at the Nepal Academy, Kamaladi, with discussions centered on the political and organizational report presented by party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda.’

Senior Vice-Chair Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma have also tabled supplementary proposals, which are currently being debated by group leaders and other central committee members. Both leaders have expressed dissent over key elements of Dahal’s proposal.

On Thursday, Dahal opened the meeting by presenting his report, which included a proposal to restructure the party and convene a special general convention in Mangsir to elect new leadership. That same day, the central committee was divided into 10 groups for in-depth discussions.

On Friday, leaders of those 10 groups are delivering their views, after which Dahal is expected to respond to the suggestions and criticisms. Party leaders indicated that the meeting is likely to conclude the same day following his reply.
