Narayangadh–Muglin road reopens fully

CHITWAN: After being blocked multiple times over the past week for a total of 105 hours, the Narayangadh–Muglin road section has now reopened, with traffic flowing smoothly since Thursday night.

The road had remained obstructed for several days due to recurring landslides at Tuin Khola, beginning Friday. According to Narayan Lamichhane, Chief of the Division Road Office in Chitwan, two-way traffic resumed at 11:35 PM on Thursday after debris from the landslide was cleared.

“There is currently no immediate threat of further landslides in the area,” Lamichhane said. “Smaller slides, if they occur, can be cleared quickly. A few days ago, lodged boulders from a previous landslide at Namsi also dislodged and fell, reducing the immediate risk.”

“This stretch of road is known for wet, muddy landslides during rain and dry, dusty ones in sunny weather. While the road appears safe for now, we still urge the public to exercise caution while traveling.”

Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal confirmed that all vehicles halted due to the landslide have now been cleared and allowed to proceed to their destinations. He credited the swift reopening to the tireless efforts of road crews, saying, “Despite the size of the landslide, the clearance was completed faster than expected.”

Currently, all routes passing through Chitwan are operational, providing relief to travelers affected by the week-long disruption.
