Bidya Devi Bhandari expresses concern over Rabi Lamichhane’s case

KATHMANDU: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has expressed concern regarding Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane, who is currently held at Nakkhu Prison in connection with a cooperative fraud case.

During a one-and-a-half-hour meeting on Tuesday morning with RSP spokesperson Manish Jha at her private residence in Bhangal, Bhandari criticized the political handling of Lamichhane’s case, stating that instead of resolving the cooperative issue, it has been unnecessarily politicized.

Jha confirmed that the former president expressed her concern over the politicization of the matter. “She showed concern that the issue, which should have focused on resolving the cooperative problem, has been turned into an unnecessary political matter,” Jha said. “She also conveyed her goodwill toward Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane.”

Jha described the meeting as a gesture of political courtesy. “This was a meeting in the spirit of political decorum,” he said. “It was held as an initial step toward political dialogue rather than for any specific agenda.”
