Rhino dies after getting trapped in marsh in Chitwan



CHITWAN: A one-horned rhinoceros died after getting stuck in a marsh near Gundrahi Dhakaha Community Forest in Kawasoti-15, Chitwan, the Chitwan National Park reported.

According to conservation officer Avinash Thapa Magar, the rhino got trapped in the swamp while going to drink water and died on Tuesday morning. The animal’s horn and hooves remain intact.

The latest national rhino census in 2021 recorded 752 rhinos in Nepal, of which 694 reside in Chitwan National Park.
