4.3-km trekking route constructed in Myagdi

MYAGDI: A new 4.3-kilometer trekking route has been constructed in Myagdi district as part of tourism infrastructure projects carried out in the fiscal year 2024/25, according to the District Tourism and Industry Office.

A total budget of Rs 12 million was allocated for 10 separate projects under the initiative, with Rs 960,000 spent so far. The projects focused on building footpaths, resting stations, shelters, and retaining walls, said office chief Amrit Kandel.

“All the projects were implemented through local users’ committees,” Kandel added. “Due to challenging geography, unfavorable weather, and delays on the part of the users, payments for completed works were made based on technical assessments of the incomplete projects.”

The infrastructure upgrades have improved mobility for both tourists and local residents. Among the featured sites is the Khopra area — a rising tourist destination — where pathways, hand railings, and a managed water supply system have been established.

At the Nagidevi Temple site, two resting stations and a 100-meter fenced perimeter with barbed wire have been completed. In Bim Tallogaun, a concrete drainage system with an upper-level pedestrian walkway has been installed.

Meanwhile, Peace Park in Barahapakhok has seen enhancements including boundary walls, railings, ground paving with stone, and installation of iron benches.
