Flyover near completion at Balambu

KATHMANDU: Construction of the flyover near Thankot Checkpost in Balambu, under the Kalanki-Nagdhunga road section, is nearing completion.

The curved flyover, which diverts from the main road’s center lane to a newly constructed access road, is currently undergoing blacktopping (asphalt surfacing).

Once complete, it will serve as a vital connection between the Nagdhunga Tunnel access road (Sisne Khola–Totipakha) and the Kalanki-Nagdhunga highway.

The flyover structure spans 128 meters, with two connecting ramps: a 280-meter ramp towards the main highway and a 210-meter ramp on the access road side. Together, the full infrastructure includes a 128-meter bridge deck at its core.

Meanwhile, finishing work is also underway on the Nagdhunga Tunnel, which is a major infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion along one of the busiest entry points to Kathmandu Valley.

The completion of this flyover and its integration with the tunnel access is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and enhance connectivity in the southwestern corridor of the capital.
