KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has expressed that having the sacred Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal is a source of pride for all Hindus.

In a message of best wishes to Nepali citizens on the occasion of Mahashivaratri, President Paudel stated, “Lord Shiva is celebrated in numerous Vedic texts. The presence of the holy Pashupati area in Nepal is a point of pride not only for Nepalis but for Hindus worldwide,” he emphasized.

The President extended his wishes for peace, prosperity, and happiness to all Hindu Nepalis on this special occasion.

He highlighted that the diverse religious traditions in Nepal reflect ongoing devotion to Lord Shiva, noting that the country serves as a spiritual center for those who revere Pashupatinath and Kirateshwor Mahadev as manifestations of Lord Shiva.

Lord Shiva embodies both the creative and destructive aspects of nature. The saying “Satyam Shivam Sundaram” (Truth, God, and Beauty) is a guiding principle associated with him.

The President mentioned that Mahashivaratri, a grand celebration of Lord Shiva, calls for living in harmony and cooperation with nature.

He also stressed the importance of preserving Nepal’s cultural and religious heritage, including the Pashupati area.

The President concluded by wishing that the festival brings spiritual awakening to all.
