RSP Parliamentary Party meeting scheduled for Wednesday

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has called a meeting of its Parliamentary Party, set to take place at the party’s central office in Chamati on Wednesday.

The meeting will cover topics including the upcoming winter session of Parliament, set to begin on January 31, contemporary political developments, and issues to be raised by the RSP, according to the party’s chief whip, Santosh Pariyar.

This will be the first meeting of the parliamentary party since the winter session commenced. Party Chair and Parliamentary Party leader Rabi Lamichhane remains under suspension.

Lamichhane’s suspension came amid ongoing legal proceedings related to cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering.

As a result, the RSP has not yet elected a new Parliamentary Party leader.

In the upcoming meeting, Parliamentary Party Deputy leader Biraj Bhakta Shrestha will assume the role of acting leader of the Parliamentary Party.

Shrestha, who was a member of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly in 2074 BS, is currently an elected member of the House of Representatives from Kathmandu.

Chief Whip Pariyar stated that the meeting was called in coordination with Deputy Leader Shrestha, in accordance with Sub-section 1 of Section 13 of the RSP Parliamentary Party statute.
