Home Minister urges protesters to opt for dialogue, not street demonstrations

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has urged groups staging street demonstrations with various demands to come forward for dialogue instead.

Speaking after a meeting with heads of the security agencies at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, Minister Aryal said the government is ready to address political demands through talks.

“The government is always open to dialogue to resolve political demands. There is no need to take to the streets,” he said, calling on protesters to be mindful not to infringe upon others’ rights while exercising their democratic rights.

He further emphasized that public and private property must not be damaged and that no violent activities should occur. “The government calls on all political forces and protesters to cooperate,” the Home Minister added.

According to him, the Baluwatar security meeting reviewed the country’s current security situation in detail. He stated that the government is focused on maintaining law and order and creating a conducive environment for upcoming elections.
