Man killed in tiger attack in Banke

BANKE: A man was found dead following an attack by a wild animal in Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-9, Banke.

The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Indra Bahadur Khatri of Namuna Tole in Guruwagaun.

According to police, Khatri had gone to the Rimna Community Forest to collect fodder around 2 p.m. on Friday and had been missing since. His family and neighbors found his body during a search operation on Saturday morning.

Nagendra Shahi, Police Assistant Inspector at Dhekari Police Post, said the body was discovered in a forest area known as Chillepata, bearing clear signs of a wild animal attack.

As the site falls within the buffer zone of Banke National Park, authorities have begun the post-mortem process in coordination with park officials.

Birendra Prasad Kandel, Chief Conservation Officer of the park, said initial indications suggest that a tiger may have been responsible for the attack. “Judging by the nature of the injuries and the scene, it appears to be a tiger attack,” he said.
