RSP demands ban on Oli, Gurung and Lekhak from political activity. ,mv

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has called on the government to bar three senior leaders, former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and former Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung, from political activity until the probe into state violence during the Gen-Z protests is completed.

“In view of the state-led suppression and violence during the September 8 and 9 protests, we demand that the former prime minister, home minister, and communications minister be barred from political activities until the investigation report is made public,” party spokesperson Manish Jha said in a statement.

The committee also resolved to pressure the government to investigate the assets of officials who have held high office since 1990 and to determine the truth about illegal cash and property found at leaders’ residences during the Gen-Z movement.

Additionally, the RSP said it would launch an internal investigation to verify whether any of its members were involved in helping party president Rabi Lamichhane escape from Nakkhu Prison during the protests.
