Legislative Committee meeting taking place



KATHMANDU: The Legislative Management Committee of the Federal Parliament is currently holding a meeting.

The agenda for today’s session is to discuss the draft report of the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2081.

The bill was registered in the National Assembly. It proposes the establishment of a National Forensic Science Laboratory to collect and analyze evidence using scientific methods.

The laboratory will handle evidence derived from biological or inanimate objects, documents, goods, physical items, and electronic materials submitted for forensic testing and research.

The bill outlines provisions for the establishment and operation of the laboratory, including its functions, duties, and powers.

It also proposes the formation of a board of directors, provisions for forensic testing procedures, the appointment of an executive director and staff, management of laboratory funds, and guidelines for maintaining accounts and conducting audits.
