The scholarships are intended for students entering grade 11, with eligibility based on student numbers in both institutional and community schools.

According to Subash Chandra Acharya, Chief of the Educational Administration Division at the metropolis, the selected students will receive scholarships for both grades 11 and 12. He stated that 1,161 students had applied, and 438 were selected based on the criteria set by the city.

“Among those selected, 219 are female students. We have called on them to submit their verification documents to the metropolitan office within three days,” said Acharya.

Of the scholarship recipients, 330 students are enrolled in science, while 108 are in other streams. The selection includes 220 students from community schools and 218 from institutional schools.

The selection process followed Sub-section (4) of Section 11 of the Metropolitan City Scholarship Management Procedure, 2082 (as amended), under which online applications were invited over a 15-day period.

According to the division, the scholarships have been allocated across various categories: 162 students from hardworking backgrounds, 162 from poor and disadvantaged families, 53 from indigenous communities, 26 from Dalit communities, nine from marginalized groups, 13 students with disabilities, and 13 from families of those injured or disappeared during the People’s Movement and the Madhesh Movement.
