Monsoon effect weak across Nepal; cloudy skies and scattered rain forecast



KATHMANDU: The influence of monsoon winds remains weak across the country, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The monsoon low-pressure line is currently situated near its average position.

The Department has forecast generally cloudy weather across the country this afternoon. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in some hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in a few locations in other provinces.

Additionally, there is a chance of heavy rainfall in one or two places in the hilly regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

For tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy over the hilly areas, including Koshi Province, and partly cloudy in the rest of the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is possible in some parts of Koshi Province and at a few places elsewhere.

The Department has also warned of possible windstorms in some areas of the Terai region, particularly in Koshi and Madhes provinces.
