Protesters demanding Energy Minister’s resignation detained at Singha Durbar

KATHMANDU: Police have detained youths protesting outside the southern gate of Singha Durbar, demanding the resignation of Energy Minister Deepak Khadka.

The demonstrators, affiliated with CPN Bahumat, took to the streets after the government decided to remove Nepal Electricity Authority’s Managing Director Kulman Ghising from his post on Monday.

As the protest took place in a restricted area, security forces intervened, detaining several protesters who were chanting anti-government slogans and calling for Minister Khadka’s removal.
