RPP General Secretary calls for street-centric movement and self-correction

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana has stated that history will judge those who fail to act decisively as the party’s demands take to the streets.

Speaking at the RPP’s central working committee meeting that began on Friday, he emphasized the need for a focused street-centric movement while the situation is ripe.

“This is not the time to be greedy for positions; the only alternative is to engage in a street movement with dedication while the iron is hot,” said General Secretary Rana.

Rana acknowledged the party’s ideal of steering clear of power struggles but admitted that the RPP had not yet established a strong presence in the minds of the people.

He attributed this to the party’s double standards, contradictions, and lack of truth and honesty. He pointed out the party’s inability to convert its popularity into votes, particularly evident in the results of the recent federal, provincial, and local by-elections.

“The people’s will will determine whether we remain in their hearts or become mere museum pieces,” Rana said.

Rana stressed that the RPP must take responsibility and not blame the people for its failures. He emphasized that the party must bridge the gap between its words and actions, noting that it is crucial to absorb the message of the times. He also called for openness to criticism and different opinions as part of a democratic practice.

Rana said RPP should not delay setting clear goals for the future based on the decisions of the Central Working Committee and the Work Performance Committee. He emphasized the importance of organizing and bringing change through the strength of the movement.

In the remaining 10 months of the Central Working Committee’s term, Rana proposed fully implementing the party’s statute and the general convention’s mandate, mobilizing the party structure with a clear vision for the movement.
