Suman Raj Aryal appointed as new Chief Secretary

KATHMANDU: Suman Raj Aryal has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal.

The Cabinet, in a meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, approved Aryal’s appointment as the top bureaucrat of the country.

The government selected Aryal based on his seniority, coordination skills, institutional understanding, and overall performance. Other potential candidates for the post included Pramila Devi Bajracharya, Madhusudan Burlakoti, and Dr. Krishnahari Pushkar.

Following the Gen-Z movement on September 8 and 9, government employees had demanded that the appointment of the Chief Secretary be free from political influence, intermediaries, or pressure from power groups.
