NEPSE gains 50.44 points as turnover crosses Rs 7 billion



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) surged by 50.44 points on Monday, bringing the benchmark index to 2,650.66 points.

The trading day saw a notable increase in turnover, reaching Rs 7.03 billion compared to Rs 6.28 billion recorded the previous day. The market remained in the green throughout the session.

Out of 258 listed companies, 215 witnessed a rise in share prices, 37 saw a decline, and 6 remained unchanged. All sectoral indices posted gains, with the life insurance sector leading the rally, climbing 4.94 percent.

Non-life insurance shares rose by 2.99 percent, while banking gained 1.40 percent and development banks increased 1.21 percent. Other notable sectoral movements included finance (1.42%), hotels and tourism (2.24%), hydropower (0.80%), investment (1.83%), manufacturing and processing (1.64%), microfinance (1.93%), others (1.68%), and trading (0.76%).

The strong performance reflects positive investor sentiment across major sectors and sustained buying momentum in the market.
