Kathmandu Valley sees slight rise in minimum temperature

KATHMANDU: The minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley increased slightly on Monday compared to Sunday.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the temperature measured at 5:45 am today was 9.3 degrees Celsius, up from yesterday’s 7.8 degrees. The official minimum temperature, however, will be confirmed at 8:45 am, and may be slightly lower or remain the same once updated.

The Valley’s minimum temperature, which stood at 11 degrees Celsius on Friday, dropped sharply to 8.5 degrees on Saturday and further declined to 7.8 degrees on Sunday before inching up again today. Meteorologists explain that cloudy nights tend to keep morning temperatures higher, while clear skies cause temperatures to fall.

The Division records minimum temperatures at 8:45 am and maximum temperatures at 5:45 pm daily for Kathmandu and other regions across the country.
