Madhesh Province announces public holiday on October 28 for Chhath



DHANUSHA: The Madhesh Province government has announced an additional public holiday on October 28, the fourth day of the Chhath festival.

The Ministry of Home, Communications and Law issued a notification today stating that the province will observe a holiday across all districts, as devotees conclude the Chhath festival by offering Arghya to the rising sun on Tuesday morning, October 28.

According to the ministry’s notification signed by Deputy Secretary Ganesh Nayak, the decision is in line with the provision published in the Province Gazette on Chaitra 22, 2081 BS, which mentioned that an extra public holiday would be granted for Chhath.

Meanwhile, the federal government has already declared a nationwide public holiday on Monday, October 27, the day devotees offer Arghya to the setting sun in the evening.
