Six people die in separate incidents across the country in 24 hours



KATHMANDU: Six people have died in separate incidents reported from various districts across the country in the past 24 hours.

In Kailali, three girls, including twin sisters, drowned in a canal at Pathraiya Gujaruwa of Janaki Rural Municipality–5. According to police, they were bathing in the Kulariya Canal under the Rani Jamara Kulariya Irrigation Project when the incident occurred.

The deceased have been identified as twin sisters Nisha Bajgain and Manushi Bajgain of Tikapur Municipality–1, and Sulochana Timilsaina of Janaki Rural Municipality–5. The twins were fifth graders at Janajagriti Secondary School, Sitapur, Tikapur, while Sulochana was a fourth grader at Saraswati Secondary School, Durgauli.

Chief DSP Prakash Dangi of the Area Police Office, Tikapur, said the twins had gone to visit relatives before going to the canal. The bodies have been kept at Tikapur Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

In Baitadi, a 58-year-old man died in a motorcycle accident. The deceased has been identified as Prem Singh Bisht of Sukeli, Patan Municipality–6, said Police Inspector Baldev Badu, spokesperson of the District Police Office.

According to him, Bisht had left for Siude around 4 p.m. on Thursday and was found dead today. His body was discovered about 100 meters below Annadi Mod of Patan Municipality–4, along the Dasharath Chand Highway. His motorcycle (SuPaPra 01-011 Pa 7151) was also found off the road.

In Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), a man was beaten to death during a Deusi–Bhailo program at Dumkatta of Binayi Rural Municipality–4. The deceased has been identified as Santa Bahadur Thada, 44, of the same locality.

Thada, who was severely injured in the assault, was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby medical center. Police have arrested Rinku Gurung (19), Dharan Paija Magar (20), and a 17-year-old boy of Binayi Tribeni Rural Municipality–4 in connection with the incident. Further investigation is underway, said Inspector Thaman Singh Rana of Dumkibas Police.

In Jhapa, a woman died of electric shock in Birtamod Municipality–10. The deceased, Talamai Mardi, 55, was electrocuted while attempting to repair an electric cable at her home, according to the Area Police Office, Anarmani. Police said further investigation into all incidents is ongoing.
