Witnessing the Himalayas in their full glory

Flying from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi on a clear day is like gliding through a moving gallery of Nepal’s mountains.

As the plane climbs out of the Kathmandu Valley, the Ganesh Himal and Langtang range appear to the north. Their snow-covered peaks look almost close enough to touch, as if someone has painted a giant white canvas across the sky.

Further west, Manaslu towers over 8,000 meters, flanked by Himalchuli and Ngadi Chuli. From above, their jagged ridges and snowy slopes look like miniature mountains in a postcard, commanding both awe and quiet wonder.

Then comes the Annapurna range. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) juts sharply upward, while Annapurna I, II, and III glisten in the sunlight, their snowy peaks sparkling like silver. Further west, Dhaulagiri dominates the horizon, its immense white summit almost glowing. On very clear days, even distant peaks like Api and Saipal can be glimpsed far beyond.

By the time the plane begins its descent into Dhangadhi, the views leave a quiet thrill. Watching the Himalayas from above, their scale, beauty, and serenity make the flight feel like a journey through Nepal’s heart, long before the wheels touch the ground.
