Landslide at Twin Khola disrupts Pokhara–Kathmandu transport

GANDAKI: The landslide at Twin Khola along the Muglin–Narayangadh section has also affected the Pokhara–Kathmandu route.

With heavy vehicle pressure building up on the Muglin stretch due to the blockage, transport services on the Prithvi Highway are facing delays, said Ain Kumar Shahi, Chairperson of the Prithvi Highway Bus Operators Company Limited.

He explained that traffic congestion has made it difficult to get passengers to their destinations on time. Authorities have closed the Muglin–Narayangadh road to clear debris as landslides continue.

“As vehicles heading toward western Nepal are now being diverted via Pokhara, the traffic load on the highway has increased significantly,” Sai noted.

Currently, around 400 passenger vehicles under the Prithvi Highway Bus Operators Company are providing services on the Pokhara–Kathmandu route. With Dashain approaching, travel demand is rising, but road blockages are creating serious difficulties for commuters, he added.
