Alternative route suggested amid Muglin–Narayangadh roadblock

DAMAULI: Landslides in the Tuinkhola area along the Muglin–Narayangadh road section have caused daily disruptions, severely affecting the general public in recent days.

Although debris is being cleared, traffic flow remains hampered due to recurring landslides and falling rocks. The situation worsened during the Dashain festival, with road blockages leading to casualties and increased hardship for travelers.

As an alternative, the route from Damauli to Dedgaun via Khairenitar in Tanahun has been recommended. The Gandaki Provincial Government has designated this road as a pride project, aiming to establish a direct link between Mustang and the Terai region.

This route is suitable for small vehicles. According to Prakash Chandra Bhattarai, who has traveled this way, drivers can reach Dedgaun by taking the Damauli–Khairenitar road, then turning left through Bhimad, Manpur, Bulingtar, Dhodeni, and finally Gaindakot.

The total distance from Muglin to Khairenitar is approximately 70 kilometers. The Khairenitar–Bhimad section is a 7 km blacktopped road, followed by a 35 km dirt road from Bhimad to Manpur. The Manpur–Dedgaun segment is a 40 km blacktopped road, and the final leg from Dedgaun to Narayangadh is another 70 kilometers.

In addition, motorcyclists can take an alternative route through Keshabtar, Sukhaura, Huslang, and Dharampani by crossing a suspension bridge, according to local resident Bijay Rana of Dharampani. He noted that some riders have already started using this path after the main road was blocked.
