Museum opens in Taksar to preserve local history and heritage

BHOJPUR: A museum has been established in Taksar, Bhojpur Municipality-12, with the aim of preserving ancient artifacts and traditional cultural materials. The museum, located in the local ward office building, has been opened to the public by the organization Navodaya under the name “Bhojpur Museum.”

Kishore Kumar Tamrakar, Chairperson of Navodaya, said the museum was established to safeguard traditional items for future generations.
“In the past, one- and two-paisa coins were minted in Taksar. These historical coins are also on display in the museum. We are planning for long-term management and operation of the museum,” he added.

The museum showcases a variety of traditional items including ploughs, wooden utensils, lanterns, clay pots, and even cassette tapes, reflecting the daily lives of people in earlier times. According to Yadu Suwal, the organization’s secretary, all the items were collected from the local community.

Sirjana Rai, State Minister at the Chief Minister’s Office of Koshi Province, expressed hope that the museum will play an important role in preserving the culture and traditions of the region. She highlighted Taksar’s historical significance.

Likewise, social activist Chandra Kumar Udas noted that the museum aims to conserve the rich history of Taksar, which dates back to the reign of King Girvana Yuddha Shah in 1872 BS.
