BHADRAPUR: Petroleum products worth Rs 18.46 billion have been imported through the Kakarbhitta border post in eastern Nepal over the first 11 months of the current fiscal year 2081/82.
The imports include petrol, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas (LP gas), aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and kerosene, according to Ishwaor Kumar Humagain, Information Officer and Customs Officer at the Mechi Customs Office.
Despite a decline in total import volume, there has been a 5.70 percent increase in revenue, amounting to Rs 8.782 billion, up by Rs 474.3 million compared to the same period last fiscal year.
However, the overall import value of petroleum products decreased by Rs 1.64 billion, or 5.60 percent year-on-year.
According to customs data, 93,824 kiloliters of petrol worth Rs 8.12 billion were imported during this period. Additionally, 68,820 kiloliters of diesel worth Rs 6.26 billion entered through the border, along with 23,438 metric tons of LP gas valued at Rs 2.59 billion.
Imports also included 6,708 kiloliters of ATF worth Rs 612 million, and 2,520 kiloliters of kerosene worth Rs 227 million.
Officials attribute the rise in revenue despite the lower import volume to revised customs rates and price adjustments on certain petroleum products.
