Light to moderate rain, thunder expected today



KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has predicted the possibility of rainfall in different regions of Nepal on Saturday.

In a weather bulletin on Saturday morning, the Division said that the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy across the country.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, and at one or two locations in other regions.

Light rain or snowfall may occur at one or two spots in high hill and mountainous areas, it said.

Tonight, the hilly areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces will experience partly to generally cloudy skies, while the rest of the country will remain mostly clear to partly cloudy.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected at one or two places in the hilly regions of the aforementioned provinces.

Light rain or snowfall is also likely at one or two locations in the high hill and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

The Division has clarified that rainfall amounts are classified as follows: less than 10 mm in 24 hours is considered light rain; 10–50 mm is moderate; 50–100 mm is heavy; 100–200 mm is very heavy; and over 200 mm is classified as extreme.
