PM Oli rallies youth for ‘Mission 2084’, slams opposition and monarchy rhetoric

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Thursday has dismissed rumors about the government’s downfall, stating that opposition forces were unnecessarily spreading such claims.

Speaking at the ‘Youth Celebration’ event organized by the ruling CPN-UML on the occasion of Democracy Day, Oli urged supporters to focus on the party’s long-term vision, dubbed “Mission 2084”.

“Opponents have started chanting that the government will fall. But in a democracy, we need stable governance,” said Oli. “We are focused on strengthening the system together. Let them worry about the government; we are looking ahead to elections.”

He called on UML supporters, particularly the youth, to unite behind the party’s mission to become the decisive national force and counter attempts to divide public opinion.

Addressing the structure of the current parliament, Oli said, “We’re doing our best within the current parliamentary setup to lead the country forward.”

Oli also took aim at former King Gyanendra Shah and monarchist activities, accusing them of mocking the sacrifices made for democracy.

“Those who deny democracy and the constitution, who insult the people’s sacrifices and struggles, are trying to ridicule our achievements,” he said, referring to recent monarchist rhetoric.

He urged the youth to reject such ideologies visibly and vocally. “Young people must now boldly reject these ideas and work to defend democracy and the constitution, guiding the country toward good governance and prosperity.”

Oli went further to criticize the hereditary monarchy, calling the tradition of the eldest son becoming king a ‘hypocritical doctrine.’
