Nepal Festival 2025 celebrated in Canberra to promote Nepali culture and tourism



CANBERRA: The Nepal Festival Parade 2025 was held in Canberra, Australia, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Nepal. The event aimed to promote Nepali art, culture, traditional costumes, cuisine, and tourism in the Australian capital.

The festival began with a cultural procession from Garema Place Civic at 10:30 AM local time, culminating at Stage 88 of Commonwealth Park.

The procession featured traditional Nepali performances, including the “lakhe naach” and “kumari naach,” accompanied by the vibrant sounds of the “Panche Baja” music.

In attendance were several dignitaries, including Nepali Ambassador to Australia, Chitralekha Yadav, Australian Finance Minister Katie Gallagher, Federal Parliamentarian David Smith, Australian Capital Territory State Minister for Multicultural Affairs Michael Patterson, and Transport Minister Chris Steele.

Ambassador Yadav participated as the Chief Guest, and the event was also supported by various Nepali organizations in Australia as well as local Australians.

The festival offered a variety of cultural programs, including exhibitions that highlighted Nepali art, food stalls serving traditional Nepali cuisine, and interactive activities for children, such as painting.

The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Australia has been organizing the festival since 2009 to spread Nepali identity globally.

NRNA Australia President Anil Pokharel emphasized the importance of the festival in showcasing Nepali culture abroad.

Ambassador Yadav expressed pride in the accomplishments of the Nepali community in Canberra, noting that they have made significant contributions, further elevating the reputation of Nepal and its people on the global stage.
