DAMAULI: Over 8,000 new voters have been added in Tanahun district ahead of the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026. A total of 8,366 voters were registered during the recent voter registration campaign.

District Election Officer Bikash Lamsal said 3,200 people registered in person at the office, including 1,382 women and 1,818 men. Meanwhile, 5,166 people registered via their national identity cards, reflecting the convenience of online registration linked with the national ID.

Lamsal also added that 906 people applied for relocation of their voter registration and 297 requested corrections to existing records. As of September 24, Tanahun has 247,040 registered voters, including 119,089 men and 127,915 women, according to the election office.

In addition, the District Polling Place and Polling Station Recommendation Committee, coordinated by Chief District Officer Ram Krishna Adhikari, has recommended the addition of two polling stations in Tanahun.

The proposed locations are Padma Jyoti Basic School in Rishing Rural Municipality-4 and Dharma Basic School in Rishing Rural Municipality-6.

Adhikari explained that each of these wards previously had only one polling station, necessitating the addition of a second to accommodate voters. Tanahun district currently has 305 polling stations across its two House of Representatives constituencies.
