Road connecting Ghyansikharka and Lulang reopens after four months

MYAGDI: Traffic has resumed on the road connecting Ghyansikharka of Raghuganga Rural Municipality–8 and Lulang of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality–2 of Myagdi after remaining closed for four months.

The road linking Lulang to Raghuganga Rural Municipality–7 had been blocked since last Asar after the water level in the Darkhola River, which flows between Ghyansikharka and Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality–2, rose due to the Malang landslide in Chimkhola.

Vice-Chairperson of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality, Resham Pun Magar, said that with the end of the rainy season, the water level in Darkhola has receded and traffic movement has resumed by installing a temporary hosepipe crossing. As there is no motorable bridge over Darkhola, vehicular movement on the Lulang–Gurja section remains obstructed every monsoon.

Similarly, traffic along the Ghyansikharka–Chimkhola road has resumed after dozers mobilized by the Chimkhola–Rahughat–Mangale, Thulokhola, and Upper Thulokhola hydropower projects on the Rahughat River helped clear the Malang landslide debris.

According to local authorities, all roads in the remote areas of Myagdi that were blocked during the monsoon — including the Ghyansikharka–Lulang route — have now been repaired and reopened. The restoration of road access has eased the movement of people and goods, facilitating the transport of construction materials, food supplies, and agricultural and livestock products.
