Deputy PM Singh calls for halt to Chure exploitation to save region

DHANUSHA: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh said Chure conservation cannot be achieved unless exploitation of the Chure region is halted.

Speaking at a press meeting held at the Nepali Congress Dhanusha District Committee office today, Singh highlighted that the major cause of water problems in the Terai-Madhesh region is the rampant exploitation of the Chure hills. He called for unity in protecting the Chure region.

Singh assured that the government is serious about addressing the water issues in Madhesh and expressed commitment that the upcoming cabinet meeting will take concrete decisions on the matter.

Addressing internal party dynamics, Singh warned that unhealthy competition within the party will benefit no one.

He stressed the need to correct weaknesses and errors rather than resorting to personal attacks, saying, “The party cannot be strengthened by blaming each other. Unhealthy rivalry benefits no one.”

As a former Nepali Congress General Secretary, Singh urged all members to cooperate and coordinate in strengthening the party organization. He warned that a weak Congress risks losing hard-earned achievements and stressed the importance of building a strong party to institutionalize the federal democratic republic.

Local government leaders present at the program expressed gratitude for the increased budget allocation from the Ministry of Urban Development, unprecedented in history.

Later today, Deputy Prime Minister Singh is scheduled to inaugurate the Sita Pushpa Vatika (Ramsita Wedding Pavilion) built by the Urban Development Ministry in Dhanusha and a multipurpose building in Jaleshwar, Mahottari.
