Govt heading the wrong way, public revolt possible: Prachanda

BAGLUNG: Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has warned that a major public uprising could erupt if the government fails to address growing public discontent.

Speaking at a program in Baglung on Friday, Prachanda accused the government of heading in the wrong direction at a time when public frustration and anger are intensifying.

He cautioned that while his party has not yet called for agitation, it has issued a stern warning. If the government continues on its current path, he said, a significant uprising could occur after the monsoon.

Recalling the decade-long people’s war, Prachanda said that a similar situation could arise if the government ignores pressing issues, as it did in the past.

He also accused the current administration of undoing several initiatives he undertook during his tenure as prime minister.

Asserting that Maoist leaders are actively mobilizing across the country to revitalize the party, Prachanda claimed that a stronger Maoist force is necessary to eradicate corruption and steer the country toward a new socialist model through an economic revolution.
