Youth stage protest at Maitighar demanding all-party government, police detain demonstrators

KATHMANDU: Youth activists, including Miraj Dhungana, staged a protest at Maitighar on Monday demanding the formation of an all-party government before holding elections.

The protest saw the participation of Rabi Kiran Hamal, Nicholas Bhusal, among others. Demonstrators argued that elections should only be conducted after the formation of an all-party government to ensure good governance and political stability.

Participants carried placards reading, “Gen-Z’s demand is not elections, but good governance,” reflecting their stance that structural reforms should precede electoral processes.

Police intervened during the demonstration and detained the protesters from the protest site. Authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding the number of detainees or the legal grounds for the action.
