Minister Ghising pushes for waste management to beautify Bagmati corridor

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, has stressed proper waste management to enhance the Bagmati corridor.

This morning, Ghising inspected the Jambudanda area of Gokarneshwar Municipality–5 along the Guhyeshwari–Gokarna stretch of the Bagmati corridor. During the visit, he highlighted the need for sewer management, road improvement, and cleanliness in the corridor area.

“The city can only be clean if the river is clean,” Ghising said, emphasizing the priority removal of waste dumped into the river, repair of corridor roads, and proper operation of river check dams.

He further informed that work is underway to remove all waste from the river, operate the check dam efficiently, and create small ponds to develop the area as a tourist spot, according to his personal secretariat.
