UML Central Committee meeting to continue today

KATHMANDU: The ninth Central Committee meeting of the CPN-UML is being held for a second day today.

On Monday, the first day of the meeting took place at the UML headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and party Chairman KP Sharma Oli. According to UML Publicity Department Chief Rajendra Gautam, 49 central committee members presented their views on key reports.

The discussions focused on the statute amendment report presented by Vice President Bishnu Prasad Poudel and the organizational proposal submitted by General Secretary Shankar Pokharel—both of which are to be presented at the party’s second statutory general convention.

Gautam said that 49 members from Gandaki Province, Madhes Province, Valley Special Province, and the Liaison Coordination Committee expressed their views during Monday’s session. Most speakers voiced support for the statute amendment proposal, which had been unanimously endorsed by the party’s Secretariat and Politburo.

The topic of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari renewing her party membership also surfaced during the meeting, Gautam informed. Each speaker was allotted three minutes to share their remarks.

A committee has been formed to prepare the meeting’s discussion notes, coordinated by Politburo member Surya Thapa, with Bishnu Rijal and Niraj Acharya as members.
