Four Nepalis killed in road accident while returning from Kumbh Mela



SAPTARI: A road accident in Uttar Pradesh, India, has claimed the lives of four Nepali pilgrims returning from the ongoing Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, while six others were injured.

The accident occurred late at night on Gorakhpur Link Road. The deceased have been identified as 65-year-old Parshuram Chaudhary and 64-year-old Lilawati Chaudhary from Kanchanrup Municipality-7, 55-year-old Hariharwati Yadav from Ward No. 5, and her sister-in-law, Samatoliya Devi Yadav, from Sunsari’s Kushaha Rural Municipality-1.

Among the injured are Lilawati’s husband, Upendra Narayan Chaudhary, a teacher at Lakshminarayan Secondary School in Kanchanrup-1, as well as Lalu Devi Yadav, Jitu Yadav, Mukesh Yadav, Upendra’s brother-in-law from Udayapur, and the driver. They are receiving treatment at a hospital in Gorakhpur.

Relatives of three of the deceased have left for Gorakhpur with ambulances to bring back the bodies, according to Ward Chairperson Samananda Chaudhary.
