One dead in rhino attack in Chitwan

CHITWAN: A 55-year-old man has died following a rhino attack in Bharatpur, Chitwan. The victim, Shivaraj Bhandari, a resident of Bikash Chowk in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-5, succumbed to his injuries this morning while undergoing treatment.

According to Gautam Mishra, Chief Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Bhandari was attacked by the rhino at Dhrub Chowk in Madi Municipality-1 on December 16. The incident left him critically injured, and despite medical efforts, he could not be saved.

The region, which lies close to Chitwan National Park, is known for frequent human-wildlife conflicts, often resulting in casualties. Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution when venturing into areas near wildlife habitats.
