Inmate who escaped from Nakkhu Prison kills wife after reaching home



KAVREPALANCHOK: An inmate who escaped from Nakkhu Prison in Lalitpur on September 9 has killed his wife upon returning home on Sunday.

The prisoner had fled during the Gen-Z protests, which also saw Rastriya Swatantra Party chair Rabi Lamichhane released following the cooperative fraud controversy.

According to Ward Chair Jaya Ram KC, 35-year-old Santa Bahadur Tamang of Panauti Municipality-12, Gagal, killed his 30-year-old wife, Manisha Ghyawa Tamang.

Santa Bahadur had been serving a sentence at Nakkhu Prison in connection with a rape case. He was among the more than 700 inmates who escaped during the Gen-Z protests.

A police team from the Banepa Area Police Office has reached the scene. Superintendent of Police Komal Shah of Kavre District Police Office said further details would be available soon.
