Nepali cricket team gets UAE visa, to fly Monday

KATHMANDU: The Nepali national cricket team has received visas from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is set to depart on Monday to participate in the Unity Cup T20I series against the West Indies.

The team will compete in a three-match T20I series at Sharjah Cricket Stadium from September 27 to 30. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) had already announced the squad for the tournament.

Originally, the team was scheduled to fly to the UAE on Friday, but the departure was delayed after the UAE initially withheld visas, reportedly due to the recent political unrest and destruction in Nepal during the Gen-Z movement.

CAN spokesperson Chhumbi Lama confirmed in a statement that the visas were finally issued on Sunday, resolving earlier uncertainty. With the clearance secured, the national team will now travel to the UAE on Monday to face the West Indies in the much-anticipated series.
