Two killed after falling from cliff in northern Gorkha

GORKHA: Two people died after falling from a cliff in a remote village of northern Gorkha.

The deceased have been identified as Rinjin Lama, 43, of Dhumche in Chumnubri Rural Municipality–6, and Hisedorje Lama, 42, of Sipchet. They fell around 100 meters into Syarkhola from a cliff at Dhadangkok, located between Chumling and Sipchet, according to relative Nurbu Dorje.

“On Sunday, there was a meeting of the electricity committee in Chumling. While returning from the meeting, Rinjin Lama went missing. His body was found by villagers this morning,” Dorje said.

Rinjin’s body was discovered by Hisedorje, who died shortly afterward when he slipped and fell into the same stream around 9 a.m. Thursday while carrying the body downhill.

Police have reached the site and launched an investigation, said Bharat Bahadur BK, Superintendent of Police at Gorkha District Police Office.
